Bluesky’s Managing Director, Simon Beer, has an engineering background with comprehensive experience in certification for the manufacture, installation and maintenance of external doors and windows, fire doors, firestopping insulation and other construction products.
After graduating in engineering at Exeter University, Simon joined a graduate trainee scheme at Hamilton Rentals, working for various departments within their computer sale and rental company. He then joined Worldspan Services Ltd, which provided computer reservation systems for the travel industry worldwide. There, he worked alongside a US based legal team to draft agreements and negotiate high value contracts. Simon then worked for a time within the manufacturing industry before joining BM TRADA to develop and run the BM TRADA Q-Mark product certification schemes for doors, windows, glass and fire resistant products.
During his time at BM TRADA, Simon gained approval to set up a DCLG approved and UKAS accredited competent person scheme to allow installers of external windows and doors to self-certify their installations against that Building Regulations. Towards the latter part of Simon’s time at BM TRADA, he handed over the day to day running of the certification department, in order to focus on developing additional services.
Simon’s mix of technical knowledge and hands-on experience is rare in a certification body. He has an understanding of both the building regulations required and the actual issues faced by installers and manufacturers allowing him to run a certification body with high standards which can genuinely add value to your products.
